For centuries the Deep Dwarves have shunned the overworld that sprawls out over their dark, cavernous homes. For centuries they have viciously attacked any interlopers who have dared to brave the twisting tunnels that run beneath the surface of Itharia. But now the Deep Dwarves have ended their isolation and have come forth to join in the Summoner Wars, with their strange geomantic magics.
A Deep Dwarf is a meticulous accountant.Proper management is a Deep Dwarf's path to victory, and they revel in setting complex chains of attack bonuses.
Ruling families of the Stone Clans have their children taught by Geomancers. They learn to work and manipulate stone and earth, the same as any Deep Dwarf, but their lives are not destined for manual labor. Communing with gems is a holy endeavor, and thus the ruling families maintain control not just as political leaders, but religious ones as well. Yet being a Gem Mage does not entitle one to a life of easy privilege, for when war is waged, the Gem Mages are expected to fill the ranks with their number, and dissolve their enemies with blasts of corrosive magic.
The Miners of the Deep Dwarves wear helmets drenched in Geomantic spells, each affixed with an ensorcelled gem. Earth and rock yield to their picks as quickly as the Miners can swing them. Many a foe has invaded the tunnels of the Deep Dwarves, only to be ambushed from every direction by Miners who seemed to appear from solid rock.
Battle Scholars of the Deep Dwarves walk calmly into combat, their deep, low voices chanting spells of scrying. They rarely attack, preferring instead to pass arcane secrets to their comrades, bolstering lowly Miners and highborn Gem Mages alike.
