A hollow repetitive clang rings out through the crisp morning air. Life stirs as a new day dawns in the great stone capital of the Guild Dwarves. The city stretches high up the mountainside, carved deep into the mountain itself. Along its walls stand the dwarven heroes of old, their graven images like sentinels guarding against those who would seek to harm their descendants.

Though the Guild Dwarves paid a high price for their Summoning Stone, they will soon discover the cost of its absence would have been far higher. The Guild Dwarves, led by the tough-to-kill Oldin, were arguably one of the strongest factions in Itharia.

The Guild Dwarves are sturdy defenders and are experts at taking down walls. They seek to hold out against oncoming attacks, while closing off their opponents´ source of reinforcements.

Guild Dwarves are masters of defensive fighting and nowhere is this more evident than in the Guardsmen. These Dwarves wear the heaviest armor, striding across battlefields with ease, letting the blows of lesser foes glance off their armor, while they seek out worthy enemies.

When a venerated member of the Capital Guard concludes his service to the Guild, he is given the chance to become Oath Sworn. These doughty fighters pledge to seek out and eliminate the gravest threats to the Guild. At one time the Oath Sworn were most often seen abroad as they traveled the world, tracking down those perils that would threaten their people. Now they are most often seen in the battles of the Summoner Wars, where they hunt and slaughter the most powerful of foes.

There are few things more shameful to a Guild Dwarf battle force than losing a wall. Architects of the Guild Dwarves are experts at shoring up defenses amid the swirling chaos of battle. In addition, these warrior-builders each bear a stonesoul – mystic devices that allow them to call summoned fortifications to their positions.

Assault Towers are an excellent example of the Guild Dwarves adapting to the new style of warfare created by the advent of summoning stones. For ages the Guild Dwarves were famed for their fortifications and defenses, yet the Summoner Wars rendered these defenses moot. But the summoner Bolvi was not willing to abandon traditional dwarven tactics, and so he commissioned the creation of the stonesouls. These hallowed stones, emblazoned with powerful runes and anointed in blessed oils, allow dwarven summoners and their Architects to transport Assault Towers directly to the battlefield, providing cover for the troops and enough heavy firepower to lay enemies low.
