The World of Larisnar, and its well-known region known as the Accordlands, is the setting for the Warlord CCG

Time Before Time

The Great Dragon created the world of Larisnar, its gods, and its people, then grew jealous of the Gods below him. It laid a clutch of three eggs and a world cataclysm began. The wisest gods were slain by the Great Dragon.

The gods went to war against their former master, the Great Dragon, and lost. The Great Dragon moved into the mortal realm to finish summoning Its children, and was attacked by the mortal races, all united together against it. They were able to wound It, but not kill it. One of the fallen gods gave Athanae, mother of Deima and Deverenus, one the dragons own eggs. Using it, she was able to walk into the Great Dragon's mouth unharmed and stab Its heart from within. She became a goddess. Its body died, but Its soul escaped, becoming the Storm.

1st Century: Reconstruction

The Mortal races began rebuilding. Athanae's twin children, Deima and Deverenus, gained part of their mother's divinity. Deima built the temple-city of Athaneas over the Dragon's own grave and attempted to commune with her mother. Deverenus built the iron-city of Luthlarius and dedicated himself to destroying the Storm. In the heavens, the gods were uneasy about the new goddess in their midst. The twins had chosen different paths, and each resented the other their choice.

The goddess Ishara and her son Neus, expanded their portfolios to be able to shepherd the human tribes as they rebuilt their cities and established the great city of Corinth.

The Elves returned to their forest homes where they began to sicken and die quickly. None lived past the age 30 any more. They desperately sought for ways to regain their lifespans, and eventually their archmage, Calix, discovered the Elements that had been warped by the Great Dragon's Death. Calix summoned the avatar of Blood by making a huge amount of living sacrifices. The rest of the Elves joined him in worshipping these twisted Elements with further sacrifices. They were able to slow the decay slightly, but that is all. The Elves continued to search for ways to prolong their lives.

The dwarves successfully resettled and rebuilt under King Hember's rule.

The humanoid races fought amongst themselves, the victors claiming wives from sacked villages. Children of mixed unions became common.

2nd Century: Accord and Discord

Then the attack came from the twisted, fowl Abyssals, spawned from the rotting body of the Great Dragon's corpse where it lay buried in a deep Abyss under the earth. Deima and Deverenus united with the other races again to combat the Great Dragon's three dark legacies; the Storm of Its soul, the twisted Elements, and the Abyssals of Its body. Together, the races made an Accord. The humans would continue Deverenus' investigations into the Storm's nature discovering wizardry along the way. The dwarves would descend into the Abyss to the line against the endless tide of Abyssals. With Deima's help, the dwarves entreated the gods to aid them. Kor was the only god to answer. These dwarves would never see the sun again. The elves would continue in trying to curb the ravages of the Elements.

The Accord was broken when the twins fell to war, and Deverenus slew Deima. She ascended to become a goddess. Deverenus married Madriga, who commanded his armies, and they went out and conquered the rest of the world of Larisnar. He had six children from Madriga. He died on his 200th birthday.

3rd Century: Rebellion and Revolution

Down in the depths, the dwarves discovered Sjonegaard, the King of the Earth Elementals. He and his people, the gargoyles, joined the dwarves in their battle against the Abyssals. The built Rockhome, a huge city-fortress that blocked the Abyssals path tot he surface lands. Sjonegaard shared with them the secret of creating intelligent, militant gargoyles

Above ground, Deverenus' empire waned and waxed as his six children fought over the throne. Eventually, the empire came to be controlled by the feudal lords beneath through their own machinations. They married their children to Deverenus' children, and the blessing of his partial divinity started to spread through the empire, making them hardier, longer-lived. One of Deverenia's general, disgusted to see the royal family becoming puppet kings and breeders, broke with the Empire and founded the Free Kingdom of Khalenar. In answer, the Empire founded Baraxton near the humanoid lands, and city started funneling wealth into the empire. Another general, Signon, marched into the Storm, seeking to die there in symbolic service to the all-but-forgotten Accord. He emerged alive 5 years later, and united portions of Deverenia in worship of the Storm. He led the troops of the Stormborn, all the souls thought devoured by the Storm's hunger. With them and the power of the Storm behind him, he took Luthlarius, killing all who lived within the city.

The humanoids made constant war with the Deverenians on their borders, and they started learning tactics from them as well, becoming organized legions with brutal strength and strategies.

The elves finally betrayed the Empire's rule, sacrificing whole armies to summon the avatar of Spirit and learn the arts of necromancy. The elven house of Dythanus was the first to master these arts when their leader severed the connection between elf and the Elements, becoming the first lich. Other elven houses, notably house Syneri, resisted necromancy, but they were beat down by House Calix, and the elven people, as whole, took up the study and practice of necromancy. Only house Wyrian, who had been practicing interbreeding with other races to extend their lifespans, thereby creating the Nimbic race, was shunned by the other houses as half-breeds unfit to live, and they retreated into exile.

4th Century: The Forgotten Accord

Signon rebuilt Deverenia into an honorable Empire, where a men and women could only rise to power through the virtue of their own, personal power, not through politicking. He established the knightly Orders separate from the noble families. He put forth the rules of check and balance to make sure Deverenia would always be led by a strong and capable Emperor. As the Deverenian empire expanded, the Narawati retreated south, their former lands conquered. The Narawati eventually settled in the dangerously inhospitable Burning lands.

Meanwhile, the nation that had first rebelled against Deverenia was falling apart because the council could not agree on a single ruler. After a generation of fighting and bickering, most of the splintered countries were eventually united again under Prince Andoverus, and Corinth was established as their capital.

By now, the only remaining accounts of the original Accord that bound all the lands together were in the hands of the Dwarves. All other records on the surface had been put to the torch by Signon. Surface dwellers continued to refer to the known world as the Accordlands purely out of habit.

During this century, the Elven cities of lime- and sand stone collapsed under the destructive force of Bone. One of their priests built a temple from the bones of long-dead titans and dragons. After he became a Severed the other Elves became convinced and the use of bone for clothing, armor, weaponry, and buildings became widespread.

During this century, Signon died, and his empire's second golden age came to an end.

5th Century: New Faces of War, New Faces of Enemies

The Mammoth tribe established the city of Lukkot and began the construction of massive siege engines and antipersonnel war machines. They began selling siege engines instead of attacking with them. Mammoth Legion prospered and Lukkot became the humanoids' center for manufacturing engines of war.

The Elven necromancers and druids made war on their human and Deverenian neighbors, expanding the borders of their forest nation from Tyraniel to Tseluse. When they tried to make war on the humanoid tribes, the Elves were beaten back by the siege engines and the bodies of the dead burned before they could be raised by necromancers.

The Narawat tribes built a temple and city around a dormant volcano, naming it Narawi. They were visited by 9 gods, who became their pantheon.

Deverenia was mostly quiet during this century. The Genecourt Order was formed as a liaison between the Orders and the Church, and the Imperial Guard. By now it was noticeable that virtually all Deverenians had a touch of the divine in their lineage, giving them longer lives and better health than other humans. They outlawed breeding with "lesser" species and miscegenation became one of the most serious crimes in Deverenia that was not a capital offense.

The solitary Medusan nation and the entirety of the lands east of Deverenia were corrupted or destroyed by a conjunction of Bascaron, the blood Moon, over the city of Mourn. Those living here were killed or twisted and became known as Bascarites. Deverenian investigations determined that the Medusans had summoned Bascaron's mad touch willfully. They united with the humanoid tribes to stop any Bascarite movements to or from the Shattered Lands of Mourn.

6th Century: Interludes and Overtures

The Dwarves continued to fight against the Abyssals underground. The BLackstone Raiders began to call for a final end by attacking the corpse of the dragon again, but their king, Hember, refused.

Ten legion commanders began a war to unite the humanoid tribes under they rule individually. The War of the Ten Legions left the humanoid population decimated. The last two tribes standing united together and the next generation of goblin and orc half-breeds insisted on calling themselves "Nothrog" the goblin word for "master." They continued to defeat other tribes, and soon other legions started the custom of interbreeding. By the end of the century, pure-blooded humanoids were in the minority and the Nothrog control was secure.

In waning Deverenia, the merchant family of Tremayne rose in prominence and came into conflict with Order Loth. Eventually, Tremayne was justified by the emperor and became an Order, but Loth maneuvered them into a difficult position, leaving them unable to use their great politicking skills against their new peers. It could only enact its nefarious plans against other countries.

In the Elven lands, a Reaver calling itself the Terror of Myreth dominated the simple minds of the small faerie race known as the Phon, driving them to war with the Elves. While fighting against the faerie, the Elves started to imprison them in crystal, and thus began the tradition of using the small faerie creatures as light sources. This tradition continued even after the Reaver was defeated.

By now, life in Narawat was nearly indistinguishable from modern times. The fundisi, the head priests of their temples, formed a Circle and with guidance from their gods they chose a leader for their nation.

7th Century: Hard-won Lessons

After the general of the Mammoth Legion attacked Luthlarius and failed, he returned to Lukkot and founded the War College, taking trained but inexperienced troops and turning them into devastating leaders. Other Legion commanders paid handsomely to have their own generals educated.

When Deverenia tried to conquer Denska, they turned to their Elven neighbors for aid. The High King Calix agreed, for an unnamed price. The Elves turned the Deverenian province of Laurel into a wasteland and all the inhabitants into undead. The Imperial Guard was defeated by the legions of undead and the Deverenian wizards fled to the Lands of the Kabal rather than return home in defeat, though they still swore loyalty to the Emperor. The Elves' price for their aid was thousands of Denskan slaves and prisoners who were used to consecrate the river Tarripar to Blood, and its waters ran red for a decade.

Among the Dwarves, Hember retired as their leader and left New Goldenaxe. He wrote down his last words of wisdom and died of old age. Vorhim found him and he was entombed in the temple at Rockhome.

In the south, the Narawati faced a crisis of faith. To preserve the peace, their historians sacrificed the truth of their origins, erasing all knowledge of their origins in the north and their connections to the other nations there.

8th Century: Revolutions

The mercantile merchants of Llyr broke away from the nobility of Andover and manipulated the council to keep their freedom as an independent nation.
